I've just moved to Raleigh, North Carolina and I am exhausted…but excited. I am eager to start working in this new environment. It is always difficult to get back into a good studio flow when I haven't worked in my studio in several days; this work hiatus is several weeks long. I will be ready after the holidays to start the arduous task of setting up and getting comfortable in a new space.

I have submitted an entry into the Artspace Summer Residency Program here in Raleigh. Artspace is a nonprofit collective of artists who occupy a building in downtown Raleigh. The building has been divided up into several studios, a couple of exhibition spaces, and a few areas for holding workshops. The Residency includes use of the large exhibition space for 4 weeks, then the space is transformed into an exhibition space for the Summer Artist Resident. The residency also comes with a $2,000 honorarium. Artspace does expect you to teach a couple of workshops, and give a weekly talk to young members of the summer art program. The Summer Resident also is expected to give a slide lecture to open up the one person exhibition.

This could be a great way to introduce myself and my work to Raleigh, and the greater Triangle area.
